健康老化研究中心EMI Lecture and Seminar by Dr. Ming-Kai Chen

活動時間:112年4月21日(五) 下午12:10-13:10PM
講題: Introduction of RadioTheranostics: Molecular Imaging and Therapy
講師: Yale Positron Emission Tomography(PET) Center, Yale University / Dr. Ming-Kai Chen

講者介紹:
Ming-Kai Chen, MD, PhD, is a radiologist in the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging and co-medical director of PET Center. He has special expertise in nuclear medicine—a type of imaging that uses radioactive materials to detect and treat disease—as well as oncologic molecular imaging, which is used to take detailed imagines of the body at a cellular level to detect and monitor cancer.
Dr. Chen, an associate professor of radiology and biomedical imaging at Yale School of Medicine, is conducting research and a clinical trial about the use of PET imaging for synaptic density in the Alzheimer’s disease.

演講摘要:
The concept of “theranostics” is a strategy involving both diagnostics and therapeutics. Radiotheranostics is using specific radionuclide-labeled pharmaceuticals for both diagnosis and therapy of diseases. I-131 radioactive iodine has been widely used for diagnosis and treatment of hyperthyroid and thyroid cancer. Recently, peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) in combination of molecular peptide receptor imaging has become a successful strategy for neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) based molecular imaging and targeted therapy for prostate cancer will transform the management of oncologic patients soon.  The theranostic principle has established a foundation for further expansion of promising agents into other diseases.
