Topic: Improving quality of life after stroke- Are we doing enough?

Synopsis: Stroke is a common global health-care problem that is serious and disabling. It is responsible for 44 million disabilities worldwide, with 70 million stroke survivors predicted by 2030. With ~80% of stroke survivors experiencing motor impairments that lead to limitations in function and mobility, a large extent of their quality of life is compromised. Consequently, much of the focus of stroke rehabilitation is on recovery of physical independence and functional ability during activities of daily living; with the ultimate goal to improve quality of life after stroke. In this talk, I will share some of the research work undertaken by my team relevant to this topic. I will also open up discussions on future collaborations to enhance research impact.
